VMaxIPcatcher Applet

  This is a frequently requested applet which can obtain a client's IP address. Works in both major browsers Netscape 3+ and Microsoft IE 4+. Optionally can call setIP(userIP) JavaScript function, if one is defined in the document, so one can use this applet for obtaining IP and passing it's value to JavaScript. After loading, the applet will attempt to obtain the user IP and resolve the computer name. If resolving is impossible it will display IP number, if obtaining IP is impossible due to some reason, it will show "IP undefined" string.

Usage Example:

<APPLET CODE=VMaxIPcatcher.class WIDTH=200 HEIGHT=20 MAYSCRIPT>
<param name="KEY"    value="Free Version">
<param name="AUTHOR" value="Virtual_Max (http://come.to/vmax)">
<param name="FONT"   value="TimesRoman,1,12">
<param name="BGCOLOR" value="000000">
<param name="FGCOLOR" value="FFFFFF">
</APPLET>
Parameters:
BGCOLOR and FGCOLOR are background and foreground colors. Colors are in Hexadecimal RRGGBB format, same as HTML colors are, but without leading # hex radix symbol.

FONT is comma separated string containing Font Name, FontStyle ans Font Height. Valid FontNames are "TimesRoman", "Helvetica", "Dialog", "InputDialog" and "Courier". FontStyle is integer number: 0 for plain, 1 - bold, 2-italic, 3- bold italic.

AUTHOR is obligotory parameter and can't be changed. Don't alter it's value.

KEY is registration key. You are welcome to use this applet with KEY "Free Version". Free version will expose "Applet by VMax" for 5 sec after loading. It also has a build-in link to my site. Free Version won't perform JavaScript call of setIP() function.

Using setIP(). One can define javacript function named setIP(userIP). UserIP will be passed to this function as String value. Here is simple example:

<script>
 function setIP(s)
  {document.myform.ip.value=s;
  }
</script>
<form name="myform" onSubmit="return false;">
 <input type="text" name="ip" value="IP undefined">
</form>
See result:

Note also that, if IP can't be resolved than function wouldn't be called.
